Hyperhidrosis – botulinum toxin
Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating that does not depend on temperature or effort and gets in the way of everyday life. A treatment with botulinum toxin blocks the signal that stimulates the sweat glands and reduces sweating for several months.
About the treatment
We inject the product with a very fine needle just under the skin, most often in the armpits, and also on the palms and soles. Botulinum toxin blocks the release of the substance that tells the sweat glands to work. It acts only where it was injected, so it does not affect sweating in the rest of the body or the body's natural cooling. The treatment is short. On the palms and soles it can feel more intense, so we discuss pain relief with you beforehand.
The first effects appear after 2-7 days and the full effect after about two weeks. Sweating drops noticeably, the skin stays dry and there are no wet marks on your clothes. Unpleasant odour is often reduced too. The effect usually lasts 4-6 months, and under the arms it can last longer. After that the treatment can be safely repeated. If the sweating started suddenly or comes with other symptoms, it is worth first checking for a medical cause such as a thyroid condition.

Contraindications
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Neuromuscular diseases (e.g. myasthenia)
- Allergy to the ingredients of the preparation
- Infection or inflammation at the injection site
- Suspected illness that increases sweating (e.g. an overactive thyroid) – diagnosis comes first
- Medicines affecting neuromuscular conduction (after consulting the doctor)
How to prepare
- For about a week before the treatment do not take aspirin or blood-thinning supplements without a consultation
- On the day of the treatment do not use antiperspirant or deodorant on the treated area
- For an underarm treatment, shave the day before
- Tell us about illnesses, medication and allergies
After the treatment: what to expect
Small bumps, redness and minor bruises may appear at the injection points. For 24 hours do not use antiperspirant or deodorant, and avoid saunas and intense exercise.

Frequently asked questions
