Chemical peel
A chemical peel is an effective cosmetic treatment based on the controlled exfoliation of the epidermis with specially selected acids. Depending on the preparation used, exfoliation takes place at different depths, so the therapy can be adjusted individually to the needs of the skin. The treatment is valued both for its wide spectrum of action and for its quick, visible results.
About the treatment
Regular chemical peels stimulate the natural renewal processes, boost the production of collagen and elastin, improve skin firmness and elasticity and soften wrinkles. They effectively lighten pigmentation of various origins, reduce blemishes and are excellent support in anti-acne therapies: they help reduce sebum secretion, limit inflammation and support healthy skin microflora.
The treatment is safe and controlled: the exfoliation process has no negative effect on the body, and its intensity is adjusted to the client's needs. Exfoliation is usually gentle and barely visible, and skin recovery takes about 3-5 days. The result is clearly smoother, fresher and healthier skin.

After the treatment: what to expect
After the peel the skin may be red, tight and slightly sensitive, like after sunbathing. For 1-2 days you may feel a burning or tight sensation. This is a normal reaction to the acids.
Peeling usually starts on the second or third day and lasts up to 5-7 days, depending on the type of peel. The skin may flake in small pieces or in larger sheets. Do not pull or pick at them. Leave them to come off on their own, otherwise you may cause pigmentation and scars.
Throughout healing wash your face gently, use the moisturising or repairing cream we recommend and a cream with SPF 50, even on cloudy days. Avoid the sun, solariums, saunas, swimming pools, intense exercise and products with acids and retinol until the skin has recovered, usually for a week.
We do chemical peels mostly in autumn and winter, when the sun is weaker. If the peeling gets worse, or blisters, pus or a cold sore appear, contact us.

Frequently asked questions
A chemical peel is for people with pigmentation and uneven skin tone, acne, blackheads, grey skin, fine lines and post-acne scars. We choose the type of acid to suit your skin and your concern.
We usually do a series of 5 treatments, and one takes about an hour. We set the intervals between treatments at the consultation, depending on the type of peel.
The first results show once the peeling has finished, after 3-7 days, and the full effect after the whole series. They last several months if you use SPF every day.
For 3-7 days the skin peels and may be red and tight. During this time do not pull off the skin, care for it gently and use a cream with SPF 50. You can go back to work straight away, but plan the treatment with some time to spare if the peeling would bother you.
We do not do chemical peels during pregnancy or breastfeeding, on a fresh tan, on irritated or damaged skin, or with an active infection, cold sore or pustular lesions. An allergy to the peel's ingredients and a flare-up of autoimmune disease also rule it out. We choose the acid for your skin, so tell us before the treatment about the cosmetics and medicines you use.
A few rules are worth remembering before the treatment. Stop retinoids, acids and peels 5-7 days before the treatment. Avoid sunbathing and solarium for 2 weeks before the treatment. Use SPF.
Skin tone becomes more even and pigmentation lighter. The skin is smoother and more radiant, with fewer blackheads and breakouts. Repeated regularly, a peel also helps prevent new pigmentation and inflammation.
